Like many people, I enjoy a good drink. Especially when I’ve just completed a book–I deserve to celebrate! I am also obsessed with chocolate. 1,000 Vegetarian Recipes happens to combine these two delights into a recipe called “Homemade Mocha Cream Liqueur”. All credit goes to Carol Gelles for this wonderful concoction.
You will need:
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa
2 tsp instant coffee
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup vodka
2 tsp vanilla
In a saucepan, stir together sugar, water, cocoa, and instant coffee. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until all ingredients have dissolved and are combined. Remove from heat. Stir in condensed milk, cream, vodka, and vanilla. Pour into a container and chill.
I like it mixed with iced coffee, though I’ve also been known to drink it straight over ice, because chocolate.
